Recycling in Schools Program

Noosa Council visits all schools in the Shire to assist with developing recycling in schools and educating students about recycling.

St Thomas More school recycling

The program is flexible and can be tailored to each school's requirements.

It can involve an individual class or a whole school and the customised options can include:

  • a 35-minute talk
  • a short video
  • interactive activities to show what happens to household waste and recycling
  • a demonstration of what can and can’t be recycled
  • a talk about simple ways to reduce waste sent to landfill
  • a talk about the effects of plastic in the ocean and environment
  • a tour of the Noosa Landfill - Council can organise buses & a guide. Tours take approximately 45 minutes.

Sunshine Beach school recycling

Many schools are already on board and have incorporated the recycling program into their studies on topics including: sustainability, climate change, waste, food, energy and recycling.
