A routine stormwater pipe inspection at Castaways Beach around 12 months ago revealed something pretty extraordinary - a colony of 1500+ microbats calling the pipe home. Over the past year, our Environment and Infrastructure teams have worked closely with bat experts to understand the colony’s behaviour and ensure they remain safe.
