Work Experience/Work Placements, Traineeships and Labour Hire

Work experience and work placements

Noosa Council acknowledges the mutual benefits to all parties that participate in work experience or work placements and provides opportunities to interested members of the community.

Work experience and work placements aim to provide students with an opportunity to relate their studies to the workplace, prepare them for the demands and expectations of the working world and help them to make informed career decisions by assessing their aptitudes and interests.

Eligibility
To be eligible for work experience or work placements with Noosa Council, you must be:

  • A secondary school student who is at least 14 years old*; or
  • A university student

* If the student is under the age of 18 years, a parent or guardian of the student must give written consent to the arrangements.

Demand is high so work experience is limited to students who are enrolled with the following schools or universities:

  • Good Shepherd Lutheran College
  • Noosa Christian College
  • Noosa District State High School
  • St Teresa’s Catholic College
  • Sunshine Beach State High School
  • University of the Sunshine Coast

There are a diverse range of work experience and work placement opportunities available at Noosa Council however the provision of placements will be subject to the ability of Council to assist without adverse effect to normal operations. If you are considering work experience with Council, you should contact the People and Culture Branch on hr@noosa.qld.gov.au

Traineeships

Noosa Council believes traineeships bring great benefit to the organisation. Since 2016, Council has provided eight traineeships and one apprenticeship within various branches of Council. The traineeships are supported by the First Start Program which is one of seven programs that make up the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative. The program offers opportunities for young people and disadvantaged job seekers to gain a nationally recognised qualification and 12 months paid employment.

Labour hire

Noosa Council utilises labour hire workers for some temporary placements. These appointments are arranged through Comensura, a managed labour hire service provider.

Comensura engages local labour hire agencies. Those wishing to work for Noosa Council under a labour hire arrangement should contact the local labour hire agencies to see if they have an existing arrangement with Comensura.
