While Noosa Council manages local planning instruments such as Noosa Plan 2020, broader planning responsibilities lie with the Queensland Government. These include key legislation and frameworks such as:

  • Planning Regulation 2017
  • State Planning Policies
  • Regional Plans
  • Other statutory instruments

A key regional framework is ShapingSEQ 2023, the State Government’s long-term plan for South East Queensland. Covering 12 local government areas - including Noosa Shire, the region’s northernmost and one of its smallest - ShapingSEQ outlines a vision for sustainable growth, economic prosperity, environmental protection, and connected, liveable communities.
