Black Mountain


Location: Black Mountain Road

One lane is now open to traffic through the landslip site. Temporary traffic signals will remain in place until work is finished later this month.

Boreen Point

There are no Capital Projects scheduled at this time.

Castaways Beach

There are no capital projects at this time.

Cooran

Location: Schreibers Road

A detour is in place on Schreibers Road while reconstruction works are underway to replace the existing culverts with a single-span bridge.

Stage 1 of works is now complete, as well as the upgrade of the Seqwater watermain. Stage 2 is now underway. Expected completion in August 2025, weather permitting.


Location: Sankeys Road

Works: Contractors will soon commence tree works on Sankeys Road, Cooran. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Update: Works have been postponed and will now commence 19 Jun 25

Start Date: 18 June 2025, subject to weather and contractor availability.

Location: Lake Macdonald Drive, Cooroy

Noosa Council is improving community safety and flood preparedness by installing automated illuminated flood warning signs at two high-risk locations in the Shire: 

  • Subway Avenue, Pomona 
  • Six Mile Creek Crossing, Lake Macdonald Drive

Start Date: 9 June 2025

Duration: Approximately 2 weeks, subject to construction conditions

Contractors will soon commence asphalt patching night works on Lake Macdonald Drive. The work will be undertaken at night between the hours of 6.30pm and 6.30am.

Start Date: 1 July 2025

Duration: Work is scheduled to commence on 1st July 2025 with completion expected by 3rd July 2025 subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Location: Nandroya Road, Cooroy

Following the storm event on 29 March 2025, ground instability has been identified at the edge of Nandroya Road. To ensure the safety of motorists, single-lane traffic closure with temporary traffic lights will be in place from Tuesday, 6 May 2025, and will remain for the immediate future.

Noosa Heads

Location: Visitors Information Centre Amenities N38 - Hastings Street

Project: Contractors will soon commence refurbishment works at the N38 Public Amenities adjacent to the Noosa Heads Visitor Information Centre on Hastings Street. 

This project will include a total roof replacement, new cubicles, new sinks, waterproofing of walls, new lighting circuits and new floor covering. 

Duration: Work is scheduled to commence 21st May 2025, with completion expected by mid-July, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Location: Noosa Sound - Maintenance Dredging

Project: Noosa Council advises that essential foreshore maintenance dredging works will soon commence within the Noosa Sound canal system. These works aim to maintain safe and navigable waterways and support ongoing foreshore stability. 

Project Start Date: Monday, 14 July 2025 

Estimated Duration: Approximately 6 months  

Construction will take place between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday.Any updates to the schedule will be publishedon Council’s website as needed

Location: Hastings Street - Garden bed renewals

Project: The garden bed located outside of 42 Hastings Street will be replenished and releveled to facilitate new planting in the garden bed.

Duration: Work is scheduled for the 2 July 2025, between the hours of 6.30am to 6.30 pm, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Location: Main Beach Boardwalk - Light Pole Replacements

Project: Contractors will soon commence light pole replacement work at:

  • Gympie Terrace
  • Claude Batten Drive 
  • Main Beach Boardwalk 

Duration: Work is scheduled to commence on the 18/06/25 with completion expected by 25/06/25, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. Works will take place during the day between 6:30am and 5:00pm.

Location: Noosa Main Beach Sand Break Seating

Project: Council is trialling a prototype sand break seat designed to help reduce the amount of sand accumulating on the boardwalk while also providing a comfortable spot to sit and take in the beautiful views of Noosa Main Beach.

We welcome community feedback on this initiative as we continue to explore ways to improve our shared spaces.

Noosa North Shore

Noosaville

Location: Noosa Waters Canal

Works: Noosa Shire Council will invest $150,000 to replace the aging salinity pump in the Noosa Waters Canal and refurbish a secondary backup pump. These essential works will be funded through the Noosa Waters Lock & Weir Maintenance Levy.  

Duration: Refurbishment and installation of the backup pump is scheduled for completion in August 2025, with installation of the new primary pump planned for December 2025. Any updates to the schedule will be published on Council’s website as needed.

Location: Eeenie Creek Road

Works: Contractors will soon commence height and width clearance work on Eenie Creek road from Walter Hay Drive to Langura Street. The work will be undertaken between 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Duration: Work is scheduled to commence on the 2nd July with completion expected by 11th July 2025, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Works: Energex will be carrying out night maintenance works 1-30 August 2025 between the hours of 9pm to 4am. Traffic control will be in place throughout the duration of works to ensure safety.

Location: Reef Street, Noosaville - Energex Vegetation Works

Works: Energex will be carrying out vegetation maintenance works on Monday, 15 and Tuesday, 16 July, between 9:00am and 3:00pm, weather permitting.

Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be displayed to provide advance notice of the works,

To ensure safety, the northbound lane of Reef Street, Noosaville, will be closed during the works.

Peregian Beach

Location: Peregian Beach Square

UPDATE 20 May 25:  We apologise for the delay to the Peregian Square Refurbishment Project. Ongoing protected industrial action related to enterprise bargaining negotiations has impacted several Council services. While we’re working to minimise disruptions, some delays are unavoidable. Once staff return, this project may need to be re-prioritised, but we’ll provide an updated start date as soon as possible.

Project: Maintenance and minor refurbishment work will begin at the Peregian Square Precinct to improve safety, accessibility, and general upkeep. Planned works include refreshing garden beds and lawns, trimming overhanging branches, and enhancing stormwater management. These improvements aim to preserve green spaces, strengthen the connection between the park and dining areas, and keep the precinct a vibrant community hub.

During construction, some sections of the square may be temporarily closed. While noise, dust and minor disruptions are expected, efforts will be made to minimise inconvenience. Construction will take place from Monday to Friday between 6.30am and 5.00pm.

Duration: Works start date to be advised. On commencement, works will take approximately six weeks to complete, subject to weather and construction conditions.

 

Pomona

Sunrise Beach

Location: David Low Way

Project: Contractors will soon commence work on replacing the existing retaining wall along David Low Way in Sunrise Beach. 

Situated adjacent to 56 David Low Way and about 200 metres south of the Orealla Crescent Bridge, the aging timber retaining wall has reached the end of its service life and will be upgraded to a durable concrete structure.

The work will be undertaken during the day between 7.00am and 6.00pm.

Start Date: Early March 2025

Duration: Three months, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Location: Adams Street

Project: Contractors will soon commence drainage works at the intersection on Adams Street.

Duration: Works are scheduled to commence on the 17th of July 2025, with completion expected by the 18th July, weather and site conditions permitting.

Location: Ed Webb Park Upgrade - Stage 2

Project: The Ed Webb Park upgrade is bringing new life and enhanced safety to Sunshine Beach, a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike. The project is thoughtfully designed to improve accessibility, community infrastructure and landscaping. Additionally, erosion control and stormwater management will be enhanced to strengthen the park’s resilience against natural elements, helping preserve the beauty and functionality of the park for years to come.

Due to funding constraints, the Ed Webb Park upgrade will be delivered across three stages.

  • Stage 1: Completed July 2024. This phase enhanced the Belmore Terrace pathway and boardwalk, creating safer pedestrian access and improved connectivity.
  • Stage 2: Scheduled March to July 2025, this phase will focus on upgrades to infrastructure and improving erosion controls.
  • Stage 3: Future projects will enhance park amenities and public spaces, contingent on funding and stakeholder input.

Tewantin

Location: Moorindil Street Pathway and Bus Stop Upgrades

Project: Noosa Council is set to improve pedestrian and public transport infrastructure across Tewantin, Noosaville, and Sunshine Beach over the next two months. These upgrades will enhance community connectivity and accessibility while aligning with the Council’s Cycling and Walking Strategy to improve safety and well-being for pedestrians and cyclists.
