Shire Wide

Pathway Upgrades in Tewantin, Noosaville, Cooran and Cooroy

Project Summary: Council will soon deliver a series of pedestrian infrastructure upgrades across Tewantin, Noosaville, Cooran and Cooroy over the next three months. These works will strengthen connectivity, improve accessibility and support safer walking and cycling routes in line with Council’s Cycling and Walking Strategy, with new and upgraded pathways creating safer, more accessible links for residents and visitors. 

January 2026

  • Yellowood Drive & McKinnon Drive, Tewantin – approx. 2 weeks
  • Noosa Parade Pathway, Noosaville– approx. 3 weeks

Black Mountain

Location: Black Mountain Road - Asphalt Seal Works

Contractors will soon commence asphalt seal works along Black Mountain Road.

Work is scheduled to commence Friday, 27th and or Saturday, 28th March 2026 with completion expected the same day, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm. 

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact, on traffic and the public, however some parking spaces and vehicle access may be periodically impacted.

Cooran

Location: Lenske Lane - Asphalt Seal Works 

Contractors will soon commence asphalt sealing on Lenske Lane.

Work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 24th and or Wednesday, 25th March 2026 with completion expected the same day, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Location: James Street - Kerb and Channel Works - April 2026

Contractors will soon commence kerb and channel works on James Street. Asphalt resurfacing works will follow shortly after however an additional notice will be issued.

Work is scheduled to commence in early April 2026 with completion expected by mid to late April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Cooroy

Location: Hinterland Adventure Playground - Pond Maintenance Works

Contractors are commencing full pump out, cleaning and repair works at the splash pond within the Cooroy Hinterland Adventure playground.

Work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 24th March 2026 with completion expected by 1st April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

While the pond will be closed, every attempt will be made to keep the remainder of the playground, picnic area and amenities open.

Location: Nandroya Road, Cooroy

Following the storm event on 29 March 2025, instability was identified at the edge of Nandroya Road. Interim stability works have been completed to keep two lanes open to traffic. The lane widths through this section are narrow and motorists are advised to drive to conditions. Investigations into long-term repair options are continuing.

Location: Hayward Road - Asphalt Heavy Patching Night Works 

Updated 09/03: Due to wet weather resulting in unsuitable ground conditions, these works have been delayed until further notice.   

Contractors will soon commence asphalt heavy patching works on Hayward Road.

Work is scheduled to commence on 26th February 2026 with completion expected by the same night, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Location: Lake Macdonald Drive Works

Project: Council contractors are carrying out remediation, and civil works for the subdivision located at 62 & 64 Lake Macdonald Drive, Cooroy to support future uses, including community housing.

Duration: Remediation works are estimated to start in August 2025 and finish in October 2025Subdivision works are estimated to start in October 2025 and finish in January/February 2026.

Noosa Heads

Location: Noosa Parade / Lions Park - Drainage Works 

Contractors will soon commence Drainage works on Noosa Parade.

Work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026 with completion expected prior to the Easter weekend, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Location: Noosa Sound - Canal and Foreshore Maintenance Dredging

Project: Noosa Council advises that essential foreshore maintenance dredging works will soon recommence within the Noosa Sound canal system. These works aim to maintain safe and navigable waterways and support ongoing foreshore stability.

Project Start Date: Monday, 14 July 2025, Works recommencing 12 January 2026

Estimated Duration: Approximately 6 months  

Construction will take place between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday. Any updates to the schedule will be published on Council’s website as needed

Location: Portside Park & James Duke Bridge - Pipe Repair Works 

Contractors will soon commence pipe repair work in Portside Park and on the pedestrian pathway underneath James Duke Bridge.

Work is scheduled to commence on 16th February 2026 with completion expected by 30th April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Location: Armitage Court - Pathway Repair Works

Updated 16/02: Due to wet weather resulting in unsuitable ground conditions, these works have been delayed until further notice.

Updated 24/03: Asphalt works are now complete. Line marking is programmed for completion on Monday, 30th March 2026, subject to weather conditions.

Contractors will soon commence asphalt relay works on Weyba Road and Mary Street Roundabout.

Work is scheduled to commence on 8th March with completion expected by 11th March 2026 subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact, on traffic and the public, however a periodic closure of the area will be necessary to complete the works. Traffic management measures and detours will be in place throughout the works.

Project: Build an accredited Public Amenities facility to provide safe, dignified, all-inclusive bathroom amenities for people with high support needs and their carers.

Location: Ely Park Revetment Wall, Gympie Terrace, Noosaville

Project: Council contractors will soon begin temporary stabilisation works on a 50-metre section of failing timber revetment wall along Gympie Terrace, adjacent to Massoud’s Slipway and Ely Park.

Works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 and are expected to be completed by 29 May 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Working hours will be 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Location: Eumundi Noosa Road - Kerb and Channel Night Works

Contractors will soon commence kerb and channel works on Eumundi Noosa Road. Asphalt resurfacing works will follow shortly after however an additional notice will be issued.

Night Works are scheduled to commence on Monday, 18th May with completion expected by 23rd May 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Location: Noosa Waters - New Canal Salinity Pump Installation

Project: Council has successfully completed installation of a new primary salinity pump for the Noosa Waters artificial lake system. Manufactured in Germany, the new pump replaces the original 30-year-old unit and restores full reliability to the salinity exchange system. This work, combined with refurbishment of the secondary backup pump, ensures the system is operating at optimal performance.

Refurbishment of the backup pump was completed in August 2025, with the new primary pump installed in March 2026. The system is now fully operational.

Location: Bellbird Flat Rd  and Hawk Road - Asphalt Patching Works

Sunrise Beach

Location: Tingira Crescent Hang Gliders Area 

UPDATE 24/03: The works have been completed, and the site will remain closed to allow the turf to establish and to prevent erosion.

Council’s Environmental and Parks Maintenance teams are currently working collaboratively on a broader revitalisation project for this area. The recent placement of crusher dust is an initial preparatory step and forms a small part of the overall works planned.

The full project will include:

  • Installation of new seating and bollards
  • Relaying of turf
  • Improvements to irrigation
  • Measures to stabilise and protect the site in an environmentally sustainable way.

Duration of works: Work is scheduled to commence Monday, 23rd February 2026, with completion expected by 20th March 2026, subject to weather and site conditions.

Location: Sunshine Creek embankment stabilisation 

In March 2026, Noosa Council will be starting reconstruction works to stabilise the Sunshine Creek embankment at Sunrise Beach. These works will be finished by June 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Tewantin

Location: Tewantin Splash Park - Rubber Resurfacing Works

Council will soon commence resurfacing of the rubber surface at the Tewantin Splash Park located next to the Noosa Marina.

Work is scheduled to commence on Thursday, 12th March 2026 with completion expected by Sunday, 5th April 2026, subject to weather and construction conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact, on traffic and the public, however a periodic closure of the area will be necessary to complete the works.

Council will soon commence roadside vegetation slashing and remove remaining storm damage.
