Pathway Upgrades in Tewantin, Noosaville, Cooran and Cooroy

Project Summary: Council will soon deliver a series of pedestrian infrastructure upgrades across Tewantin, Noosaville, Cooran and Cooroy over the next three months. These works will strengthen connectivity, improve accessibility and support safer walking and cycling routes in line with Council’s Cycling and Walking Strategy, with new and upgraded pathways creating safer, more accessible links for residents and visitors. 

January 2026

• Diamond Street Pathway, Cooroy –approx. 3 weeks
• Yellowood Drive & McKinnon Drive, Tewantin – approx. 2 weeks
• Noosa Parade Pathway, Noosaville– approx. 3 weeks

February 2026

• Waratah Close Pathway, Tewantin –approx. 3 weeks
• Werin Street & Shields Street Staircase and Pathway, Tewantin –approx. 4 weeks

March 2026

• Bridge Street Pathway, Cooran – approx. 4 weeks

Location: Black Mountain Road - Asphalt Seal Works

Updated 13/04: Asphalt resealing works have been completed with Line marking set to be completed Wednesday, 15th April 2026.

Contractors will soon commence asphalt seal works along Black Mountain Road.

Work is scheduled to commence Friday, 27^th and or Saturday, 28^th March 2026 with completion expected the same day, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm. 

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact, on traffic and the public, however some parking spaces and vehicle access may be periodically impacted.

Location: Driftwood Drive - Emergent Drainage Relining Works

Contractors will soon commence emergent drainage relining works on Driftwood Drive

Work is scheduled to commence Thursday, 9^th April with completion expected by Friday, 17^th April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. 

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Location: James Street - Kerb and Channel Works - April 2026

Contractors will soon commence kerb and channel works on James Street. Asphalt resurfacing works will follow shortly after however an additional notice will be issued.

Work is scheduled to commence in early April 2026 with completion expected by mid to late April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Location: Nandroya Road, Cooroy

Following the storm event on 29 March 2025, instability was identified at the edge of Nandroya Road. Interim stability works have been completed to keep two lanes open to traffic. The lane widths through this section are narrow and motorists are advised to drive to conditions. Investigations into long-term repair options are continuing.

Location: Hayward Road - Asphalt Heavy Patching Night Works 

Updated 14/04:  These works have been delayed until further notice.   

Contractors will soon commence asphalt heavy patching works on Hayward Road.

Work is scheduled to commence on 26^th February 2026 with completion expected by the same night, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Location: Lake Macdonald Drive Works

Project: Council contractors are carrying out remediation, and civil works for the subdivision located at 62 & 64 Lake Macdonald Drive, Cooroy to support future uses, including community housing.

Duration: Remediation works are estimated to start in August 2025 and finish in October 2025. Subdivision works are estimated to start in October 2025 and finish in January/February 2026.

Noosa Heads: Claude Batten Drive - Fencing Replacement Works

Contractors will soon commence fencing replacement works on Noosa Council’s Sand Recycling System infrastructure along Claude Batten Dr (Noosa Woods). Works are proudly funded by Council’s Capital Works budget.

Work is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 22^nd April with completion expected by Friday, 20^th June 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Location: Noosa Sound - Canal and Foreshore Maintenance Dredging

Project: Noosa Council advises that essential foreshore maintenance dredging works will soon recommence within the Noosa Sound canal system. These works aim to maintain safe and navigable waterways and support ongoing foreshore stability.

Project Start Date: Monday, 14 July 2025, Works recommencing 12 January 2026

Estimated Duration: Approximately 6 months  

Construction will take place between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday. Any updates to the schedule will be published on Council’s website as needed

Note: The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions, contractor availability, and site circumstances.

Contractors will soon commence pipe repair work in Portside Park and on the pedestrian pathway underneath James Duke Bridge.

Work is scheduled to commence on 16^th February 2026 with completion expected by 30^th April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Location: Noosaville, Eenie Creek Road - Drainage Works

Contractors will soon commence Drainage works on Eenie Creek Rd.

Work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 21st April 2026 with completion expected by Thursday, 30th April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 5.30am and 6.30pm. 

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact, however road closures are necessary to complete the works, with detours in place to manage traffic flow. Local traffic and residents will still have access, but alternative routes may be required for some areas.

Location: Gympie Terrace - Wedding Area - Timber Replacement Works

Noosa Council staff will soon commence timber replacement works on the platform behind the tennis court along Gympie Terrace.

Location: Ely Park Revetment Wall, Gympie Terrace, Noosaville

Project: Council contractors will soon begin temporary stabilisation works on a 50-metre section of failing timber revetment wall along Gympie Terrace, adjacent to Massoud’s Slipway and Ely Park.

Works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 and are expected to be completed by 29 May 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Working hours will be 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Location: Eumundi Noosa Road - Kerb and Channel Night Works

Contractors will soon commence kerb and channel works on Eumundi Noosa Road. Asphalt resurfacing works will follow shortly after however an additional notice will be issued.

Night Works are scheduled to commence on Monday, 18^th May with completion expected by 23^rd May 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. 

The work will be undertaken during the night between the hours of 6.30pm and 6.30am.

Location: Osprey Avenue Footpath Upgrade

Project: Noosa Council is upgrading the pedestrian pathway along Osprey Avenue, Peregian Beach to provide a safer and more accessible, pathway for the community. The project involves renewing and widening the existing pathway over approximately 450 metres to better accommodate pedestrians, cyclists, and other users.

Timing: Construction will generally occur Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 4:30pm. 

Works are scheduled to start Monday, 20 April 2026 and are expected to be completed by mid-May 2026, weather permitting.

Location: Sunshine Creek embankment stabilisation 

In March 2026, Noosa Council will be starting reconstruction works to stabilise the Sunshine Creek embankment at Sunrise Beach. These works will be finished by June 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Location: Beach Access 27 Carpark Seaview Terrace - Drainage Repair Works

Contractors will soon commence drainage repair works to repair drainage pipes in the carpark at Beach Access 27, Seaview Terrace in Sunshine Beach.

Work is scheduled to commence on Monday, 20th April 2026 with completion expected by 24th April 2026, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions. The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm.

There will be minimal disruption on traffic and the public, however a periodic closure of the area will be necessary to complete the works. Traffic management measures will be in place throughout the work, and there will be pedestrian only access around the work area. No Car parking will be available during this time.

Location: Hilton Esplanade - Street Improvements

Project: Hilton Esplanade is a much-loved, peaceful riverside street in Tewantin, known for its natural beauty and relaxed character. Over time, parts of the street, foreshore and infrastructure have started to age, and the area is increasingly affected by flooding and erosion

We’re exploring improvements such as upgrading stormwater drainage, strengthening the foreshore, and enhancing the look and feel of the street. 

This is an early, community-focused stage of planning. We’re keen to hear from residents and visitors about what they value, how they use the area, and what improvements matter most. 

Your feedback, alongside technical investigations, will help shape future plans and priorities for Hilton Esplanade, and support future funding opportunities for delivery.
