Tewantin Cemetery holds a significant place in the local community's history & heritage. This tranquil site serves as a final resting place for many individuals & families, offering a serene & respectful environment for remembrance & reflection.

Cooroy Cemetery offers a peaceful final resting place for loved ones. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of the hinterland with spectacular mountain views, this cemetery provides a tranquil setting for reflect & remembrance. 

 Pomona Cemetery is a site steeped in history & tranquillity. Established in 1986, the cemetery has a strong association with generations of the local community who have family members buried in this cemetery and is of spiritual & social significance.

Visiting a Cemetery

Our cemeteries are places of remembrance and reflection. To help keep them safe, peaceful, and well-maintained, we ask visitors to please follow these guidelines:

  • Children must be supervised at all times, as monuments may be unstable and the ground uneven.
  • Planting trees or shrubs on or near graves is not allowed.
  • Only authorised Council officers may open the ground for burial.
  • Any works within the cemetery require prior Council approval.
  • Dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Please clean up after them.
  • Only one floral tribute or adornment is permitted per site to ensure the cemetery remains tidy.

Alternatively, you can visit Council's Tewantin office 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday or the Cooroy Cemetery office in person any Tuesday between 9 am and 12 pm.
