We're offering eligible Noosa-based not-for-profit organisations the opportunity to receive professional support to develop or refresh their strategic plan.
A strong strategic plan can help your organisation:
• Set clear priorities and goals
• Strengthen decision making and governance
• Engage and support volunteers
• Build organisational resilience and sustainability
• Increase readiness for future funding opportunities
The benefits are real. Four organisations who participated in last year's Strategic Planning Program subsequently secured Community Project Grants.
How Expressions of Interest will be assessed
The Strategic Planning Mentorship Program is designed to support eligible Noosa not-for-profit organisations that would benefit from guided assistance to develop or significantly review their strategic direction.
Submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee a place in the program. As places are limited, EOIs will be assessed to determine both eligibility and readiness to participate.
To be eligible, organisations should:
- be a not-for-profit organisation operating in, or providing a demonstrated benefit to, the Noosa Shire community;
- have an established organisational or governance structure;
- be able to demonstrate a genuine need for strategic planning support;
- have the support of the organisation's leadership or management committee to undertake the planning process; and
- be able to commit appropriate representatives to actively participate in the mentorship and planning sessions.
Priority may be given to organisations that:
- are experiencing change, growth or challenges that would benefit from clearer strategic direction;
- can clearly identify why strategic planning is needed and what they hope to achieve;
- demonstrate commitment from several members of their committee, board or leadership team;
- are willing and able to undertake work between mentoring sessions; and
- demonstrate that the resulting Strategic Plan will be actively used to guide the organisation's future priorities and decision-making.
An organisation may not be considered suitable for the program where:
- it is not an eligible not-for-profit organisation or does not demonstrate a connection or benefit to the Noosa Shire community;
- political parties and organisations whose primary purpose is political advocacy, lobbying, election campaigning or influencing government policy;
- it has recently completed a current and relevant Strategic Plan and has not demonstrated why a further strategic planning process is required;
- the primary purpose of participating is to obtain a Strategic Plan solely to support a grant or funding application;
- there is insufficient support or commitment from the organisation's committee or leadership;
- the organisation is unable to commit the people or time required to participate meaningfully in the process; or
- the organisation's identified needs are primarily operational, governance, financial or organisational issues that may be better addressed through another form of capacity-building support.
Assessment and selection
Where the number of eligible EOIs exceeds the places available, applications will be prioritised based on demonstrated need, organisational readiness, commitment to the process and the potential for the mentorship to strengthen the organisation's long-term sustainability and community impact. Council may contact applicants to seek further information or clarification before making a final selection.
