Beckmans Road Upgrade
The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is leading the planning of the Beckmans Road corridor to improve safety and traffic flow between Cooroy-Noosa Road and Eumundi-Noosa Road in Tewantin.
Planning is underway to identify the best options to reduce congestion, enhance road user safety, and increase efficiency along the corridor. Stage 1 of the upgrade was completed in 2022, including the construction of a new two-lane roundabout at the Cooroy-Noosa Road and Beckmans Road intersection.
This project represents the second stage of the Beckmans Road upgrade — a key and well-used connection between Noosaville, Tewantin and Cooroy. Stage 2 will be an important next step towards improving safety, managing congestion and providing better connections for all road users, including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
In a joint effort with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), Council has submitted a referral under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
As part of this process, the Federal Minister for the Environment and Water will invite public comment for each referral; regarding whether the proposed upgrade is a controlled action. Proposed actions will be open for comment for 10 business days on the EPBC Public Portal. The public comment period is expected to commence shortly for the Beckmans Road Upgrade.
For all project-related matters, please contact TMR directly via email or by phone on (07) 5451 7055.
Further details are also available on the TMR project webpage.
Noosa Council is working closely with TMR to support planning for the Beckmans Road upgrade and to help ensure the project meets the needs and expectations of the local community.
