Disaster Reconstruction
In recent years Noosa has regularly experienced severe weather events, flooding, erosion, landslides and storm damage.
Since 2018, almost $200 million worth of recovery funding has been delivered across the Shire to help restore roads, drainage systems, waterways, and other critical public assets after disaster events.
Storm and flood event - March 2025
A storm and resulting flood event in March 2025 resulted in further damage to infrastructure across Noosa Shire’s transport network.
Council worked with the state and federal governments to obtain funding support using the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, which minimises the cost burden of reconstruction to rate payers.
Construction has started at several sites, with additional sites to follow.

Black Mountain
Black Mountain Road
Reconstruction of landslide damage near 430 Black Mountain Road started in early September 2026 and take about four months, weather and construction conditions permitting. Work at 445 Black Mountain Road will start soon.
One lane is closed using temporary traffic signals for the duration of construction.

Cooroy
Nandroya Road Reconstruction Project
Nandroya Road in Cooroy sustained significant damage in early 2025. Changed traffic conditions have been in place since that time.
Works to reconstruct the road will start in September 2026. Nandroya Road will be closed for the duration of construction and a detour in place.
We are finalising detour plans and talking with key service providers and Emergency Services to minimise impacts and ensure safety. We will share further information with the community soon.

Black Pinch Road
Reconstruction of damage sustained in 2022 is now complete. This includes work to the Wahpunga Trail.
Five additional sites were damaged in the rain event in early 2025. The tender to reconstruct these sites is now out to market. We will update the community when the contract has been awarded.

Middle Creek Road
Works to reconstruct damage on Middle Creek Road near Andersons Road started in early September and will take about four months, weather and construction conditions permitting.

What to do if a road is flooded?
If it's flooded, forget it!
- Drive to prevailing conditions.
- Take caution when crossing any storm water on roadways.
- Do not attempt to traverse creeks and other crossings that are clearly under water.
- Be aware that potholes may form during periods of high rainfall.
- Be aware the unsealed roads may have scours due to high rainfall.
