Waste and recycling Waste and recycling

Council encourages recycling as part of its Towards Zero Waste program, and provides yellow recycling bins for the disposal of various household packaging and containers.

E-waste items can be dropped off at no charge at Council's Eumundi Road Resource & Recovery Centre (tip). E-waste includes: computers, laptops, mobile phones, TVs, games consoles, DVDs/CDs, cords/cables.Please do not place E-waste in your recycle (yellow lid) bin.

Polystyrene can be dropped off at Council's Resource and Recovery Centres for recycling. Council has recently partnered with Rockcote, a local business that turns polystyrene into innovative building products. Please do not place polystyrene in the recycling (yellow lid) bin.

Council also encourages the voluntary uptake of the garden waste bin service, available at a low annual fee for garden waste, so that garden waste can be recycled into mulch and provided free of charge to local residents.

A new garden waste bin recycling service commencing in September 2017 will see residents in urban areas of the shire automatically receiving a garden waste recycling bin. For information please visit the new Garden Waste Recycling Bin Service page.

Council's A-Z Handy Guide to Recycling details what items can be recycled at Noosa's Resource & Recovery Centre at Eumundi Road and which bin to use for a host of common household waste items.

To request a replacement or repair to a damaged bin, or to report a stolen bin, simply complete the online form. For a permanent extra bin service, including a garden waste bin service, complete this online form.
