State Planning

State and Regional Planning

While Noosa Council is responsible for preparing and maintaining the local planning instruments, including Noosa Plan 2020, the State Government is responsible for higher order planning instruments and legislation.  This includes the Planning Act 2016; the Planning Regulation 2017; State Planning Policies; Regional Plans; and various Statutory instruments.

ShapingSEQ 2023  is the Queensland Government’s long-term vision for the South East Queensland region. It covers the 12 local government areas of the region, of which Noosa Shire is the most northern, and one of the smallest. The plan sets out a vision for the region and sets priority actions for the State and local governments to advance this vison. It has a focus on accommodating a significant level of growth while maintaining a prosperous economy, sustainable environment, and livable connected communities.
