Noosa Council’s Resource Recovery Centre on Eumundi Noosa Road at Doonan is currently closed following a fire in the steel stockpile area in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters are on site and the fire contained, but the facility will remain closed while the site is made safe.

The Cooroy Waste Transfer Station, located at 191 Mary River Rd, Cooroy - usually only open Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays - will be open today and accepting green waste only.

The Cooroy Waste Transfer Station is open to cars, utes and trailers but cannot accommodate trucks.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service is advising residents in Noosaville, Tewantin and the surrounding area to stay inside, close windows and doors to keep the smoke and smell out.

Council aims to reopen the Resource Recovery Centre at Doonan as soon as it is safe to do so.

The community’s patience is appreciated.
