Autumn Guided Walk in Noosa Botanic Gardens

Elephant Apple in the Noosa Botanic Gardens

Join the Friends of Noosa Botanic Gardens for an autumn walk in the Noosa Botanic Gardens. Beloved by bees, the Elephant Apple flowers are at their best at this time of year.  Large and white with a subtle fragrance they can be found hiding amongst the green corrugated leaves, so follow the sound of the bees to see them.  Also worth a look at is the night-flowering Sausage Tree.  Pollinated by bats, the lush strings of velvety red flowers may still be on their stalks or making a rich carpet on the path.  In the Bush Tucker Garden, the Davidson Plums & the Small-leaved Tamarind have finished fruiting, but the Native Currants will be at their best, plump, black & luscious but they will stain your fingers.  Towards the end of the walk, you will come to the Silk Floss Tree. Tall & prickly it should be starting to produce its pale pink flowers.  These are followed by pods that produce fluffy white cotton which can be seen when it falls to the ground. Enjoy these & other interesting trees & their stories with the knowledgeable guides.
