Major Event Sponsorship Funding 2026-2027

Applications are open from Friday 14 November 2025 and close Sunday 30 November.

Events in Noosa Shire enrich the lives of residents, preserve and celebrate local culture, encourage sustainability, promote a sense of connection with the community and leave a positive economic impact.

From 1 July 2026, Major Event Sponsorship funding will be managed by Noosa Council, prior to this it was managed by Tourism Noosa.

The funding is a contribution to support larger events that demonstrate a strong alignment to the soon to be released Destination Management Plan.

Within that context, Noosa Council will contribute funds to Major events that

  • Have a community centric approach
  • Prioritise environmental stewardship
  • Support sustainable economic growth
  • Protect the regions cultural and natural heritage
  • Provide real benefits of value to the community

The intention is to build on the economic impact of the event for Noosa Shire and successfully integrate the above elements.


Funding Process
Sponsorships are currently offered on an annual cycle.  The process for applying for funding is as follows.

  1. Submit an application: Review the Event Guidelines(PDF, 648KB) for a full list of the criteria and objectives the event will need to meet*
  2. Review: The applications will be reviewed against a weighted criterion by the Major Events panel.
  3. Decision: Successful applicants will be advised by late January 2026. Events that are successful in securing Major Event Sponsorship funding will need to apply for an event permit separately, should one be required for the event.
  4. Ongoing support: Council will work with event organisers on an ongoing basis to ensure a successful event.
  5. Post event reporting and acquittal: To be provided with 20 business days of the completion of the event.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Major Event Sponsorship funding, an event must meet the following objectives, including:

  • Take place wholly within the Noosa region
  • Demonstrate a strong alignment to the soon to be released Destination Management Plan 
  • Provide the total number of event participants/attendees by location (local, intrastate, interstate, and international).
  • Provide a detailed event budget, including projected spend with local businesses and suppliers
  • Outline what benefits (of value to the community) will be provided by the event

The Process

This is a contestable sponsorship process. Each application will be reviewed independently by a panel of senior council officers, with expertise in event sponsorship and management. The panellists will review each application against a weighted criterion. The final approvals will be given at January's Noosa Council General Meeting, following this, successful applications will be identified.


2026-2027 Sponsorship Round

For events to be held between July 2026 and June 2027, the application period will open on Friday 14 November and close Sunday 30 November. Successful events will be notified by late January 2026.
