Castaways Beach

Location: Castaways Creek - Bus Stop
Project details: Work will commence on Tuesday 28 August, 2018 for the installation of a new disability accessible bus stop on David Low Way near the Castaways Creek Bridge. The adjacent pathway will be upgraded to improve access to the bus stop. The new bus stop will pair with the existing bus stop near the corner of Wavecrest Drive.  The existing bus stop in the Castaways Beach car park will remain open during the construction of the new disability accessible bus stop.

Duration: Work will be complete in 2 weeks, weather dependent with the new bus stop being operational by late September

Cooran

Location: Pioneer Park
 

Community facilities are one step closer to completion with stage one work of the upgrade concluded.

Stage 2 work will see the upgrade of the existing playground equipment, scheduled for delivery this financial year. Stage 3 work, the construciton of a new park shelter, BBQ facility and park seating is scheduled for the 2019/20 financial year.

Location: Old Noosa Road Bridge Replacement
Project:

Contractors will commence constrution shortly on a new concrete bridge with a 100-year life span. Council has allocated $1.5m, which includes funding from the Australian Government Bridges Renewal Program to construct the bridge.

Detours will be in place for traffic as shown on the project news.

Cooroibah

Cooroy

Location: Mary River Road Bridge - piling work
Project details:

Piling work will commence on Tuesday 14 August, 2018. The foundation work involves the installation of 16 concrete piles. Noise and some ground vibration will be experienced during this stage of work.

In preparation for this work to commence the concrete piles, in 14 metre and 17 metre lengths, will be transported to the construction site on Friday, 10 August. Traffic control will be in place.

Location:

Mary River Road Bridge construction
Project details:

Work is set to commence on a new concrete bridge with a 100-year life span, in Mary River Road, Cooroy. Council has allocated $2.1m, which includes funding from the Australian Government Bridges Renewal Program to construct the bridge.

Mary River Road will be closed between Marara Street and Lower Mill Road for the duration of the project. Detours will be in place for traffic and pedestrians:

  • Vehicles - via Garnet Street and Sportsground Parade
  • Pedestrians - via Mill Place and Lower Mill Road or through Apex Park.

Location: Cooroy Mountain Road Bridge
Project details:

Council’s commitment to ensuring safe travelling experiences in the hinterland will see work commence shortly on rehabilitation of the timber road bridge on Cooroy Mountain Rd near Miva Street, Cooroy.

Traffic control will be in place with one lane of traffic closed between 10 September 2018 and 14 September while the girder is replaced.

Location: Raised Pedestrian Crossing – Maple Street, Cooroy
Project Details:

The existing pedestrian crossing adjacent to the Cooroy Memorial Hall is being upgraded to a raised pedestrian crossing. The raised crossing will include a colour treatment to increase visibility of the crossing as well as serve as a traffic calming device.

 

Start date: 10 September

Marcus Beach

Location: David Low Way, Marcus Beach 
Project details:

The southbound bus stop near Melaleuca Street will be upgraded to current accessibility standards. During the construction Southbound buses will be detouring down Toona Street, Tristania Drive & Melaleuca Street to provide a safe location for the temporary bus stop. Which will operate in front of the car park on Tristania Drive near the beach access.

The bus service operator would appreciate it if people limit on-street parking along the detour route to allow the buses to safely negotiate Tristania Drive."

Noosa Heads

Location: Park Road Boardwalk
Project details:

Work to replace a 420m section of the Park Road Boardwalk from Little Cove to the Noosa National Park entrance has started. The project will be completed by mid-December 2018, weather permitting.

One lane of Park Road will be closed from Thursday 26 April 2018 with traffic flowing in a one-way loop from Park Road up Alderley Terrace and down Mitti Street. Pedestrians will also use an alternative pathway to access the National Park from Little Cove.

Maze Car Park, Noosa Heads - Line marking

 

Line marking maintenance works will take place on the 4 & 5 of September 2018 in the Maze car park, Noosa Heads.

Project details:

Work to update and renew two amenities blocks at the Noosa River Holiday Park will be staged to minimise the impact on holiday park customers.

Project details: Contractors will commence work on resealing various sections of road in Sunshine Beach including:

Project details:

The Sunshine Beach Skate Park will be closed from Tuesday, 23 October and reopen at 10am on Friday, 26 October, 2018 while defect repair work is undertaken.

Ridgewood

Location: Donnellys Road
Project details:

Work will commence shortly to upgrade the intersection of Donnellys Road & Cooroy Belli Creek Road, Ridgewood.

The intersection upgrade will see sight distances improved and a realignment of the intersection. Sections of Donnellys Road will be realigned to increase sight lines and reduce gradient changes, improving road safety. 

Donnellys Road and Cooroy Belli Creek Road will be under changed traffic conditions during this project.

Tewantin

Location: Read Park, Goodwin Street
Project details:

Council’s commitment to improved parking facilities at Read Park will see work commence this week at the Goodwin Street carpark.

The work will provide 27 car parking spaces, 4 motorbike parking spaces, new asphalt surface and improved entry and exit for pedestrians and motorists.

Location: Hilton Terrace
Project details:

Work on a $3 million upgrade of Hilton Terrace between the Doonella Bridge and Hilton Esplanade will commence shortly. The project is staged with completion by the end of 2019, weather permitting.

The first stage of work will see the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Hilton Terrace and Ernest Street in the second half of 2018.

Motorists are encouraged to allow more travel time and to avoid peak hour travel where possible.
