Learn-to-surf lessons, beach equipment hire, kayak hire and tours, surf dancing, kite surfing, refreshment vans and beach massage are among the commercial activities Council will award 10 Commercial High Use Permits for.

Council will award 10 Commercial High Use Permits for a range of specific commercial activities on public land.

These include learn-to-surf lessons, beach equipment hire, kayak hire and tours, surf dancing, kite surfing, refreshment vans and beach massage.

Council’s Property Manager, Clint Irwin, said the new permits would commence July 1, 2021, for a five-year term.

“Allowing some commercial activity at the beach adds to the experience for both locals and visitors, but it’s important we strike a balance between commercial activity and the community’s right to access and enjoy public space,” Mr Irwin said.

Tender details and documents are available via the Current Tenders section on Council’s website, with the tender closing at 2pm on Friday, April 2.
