Noosa Shire Council

Levies Levies

Rates contain levies set by council. The key environment, public transport, and tourism levies provide vital project funding to protect and enhance the sustainability of the region.

Details of other levies are contained in the Revenue Statement [2.3MB].

Environment Levy

The Environment Levy contributes to sustaining a healthy environment by allowing council to fund a range of strategic environmental management initiatives across the region. Every property throughout the region is charged $30 per half year. In this way, council and the community are working together to protect the long-term health of the environment.

Sustainable Transport Levy

The Sustainable Transport Levy will allow council to fund public transport in a significant move towards tackling congestion on the regions roads. The levy is $15 per half year and Council will use the levy funds to meet the costs of a range of services and initiatives.

Tourism and Economic Levy

Noosa Council has adopted a Noosa Local Economic Plan and is focused on implementing that plan with projects and initiatives to grow the Noosa economy. Council will undertake a range of projects in 2017/18 to implement the Noosa Local Economic Plan, including its ongoing commitment to the Noosa Tourism sector of our economy.

Tourism is a major economic driver of the Noosa economy and Council is committed to its ongoing sustainability and appropriate promotion and marketing via Tourism Noosa.

Council has agreed to fund the implementation of the Noosa Local Economic Plan by the Tourism and Economic Levy.  This implementation includes the ongoing funding of the promotion of tourism and related activities and also the implementation of other projects that will assist in delivering the strategies identified in the Noosa Local Economic Plan.

The special rate applies to all rateable land that has been categorised as per the table below, with council imposing a minimum amount of $30.50 per half year.

  • If you believe your property has been incorrectly categorised and should not be levied the Tourismand Economic Levy please complete the Tourism and Economic Levy Declaration form [229KB] and forward to council.

State Emergency Management Levy
