Recycling

Council provides a fortnightly recycling collection service.  Not everything that has the recycling sign can go in your yellow top recycle bin.

Only recycle:

  • Glass bottles/jars - remove lids from wine bottles (not recycable)
  • Hard plastic bottles and containers (lids can stay on)
  • Aluminium & steel cans
  • Empty aerosols
  • Paper & cardboard projects
  • Tetra Pak drink cartons (milk & juice)
  • Pizza boxes (no food)
  • Magazines
  • Aluminium trays & foil (clean only - scrunch into a large ball)

what to recycle

WHY RECYCLE?

It uses much less energy to recycle products than it does to manufacture new products. It conserves non-renewable resources for future generations. Making new cans from recycled aluminium requires only 5% of the energy

TIPS:

  • Rinse or wipe out containers
  • Place items loose in the recycle bin (not in a plastic bag or box)
  • Remove lids from wine bottles (bottles can be recycled, wine lids into waste bin)

KEEP IT OUT:

E-waste such as computers, laptops, mobile phones, TVs, monitors, and AV equipment can now be dropped off at Council's Eumundi Road Resource and Recovery Centre (tip) for free and recycled. Please do not place e-waste in the recycling (yellow lid) bin.
