The Community Profile provides insight into Noosa Shire’s resident population and considers demographic and population data, education, employment and socio-economic indicators.
There were gaps in detailed information on the Noosa Shire community following de-amalgamation. While some information is available through the office of the Queensland Government Statistician, this does not provide accurate results to reflect the Shire’s geographical boundaries.
Consequently, in 2014 Council commissioned AEC Group to produce a Community Profile which compared statistical data for Noosa Shire with both South East Queensland, and the State.
The AEC Group's full report is available here: Noosa Shire Community Profile [2.8MB]
For the purpose of the social profile the Shire has been divided into nine localities. These are:
- Boreen Point, Kin Kin and Cootharaba
- Federal to Ringtail Creek (including Pomona and Cooran)
- Noosa North Shore
- Ridgewood to Tinbeerwah (including Cooroy)
- Noosaville and Doonan
- Noosa Heads
- Sunshine Beach to Peregian Beach
These localities are not equivalent in size or population, but broadly represent communities of interest. Readers of the report are cautioned, that because of the low number of Noosa North Shore residents, interpreting results for this locality can be problematic.
The following snapshots have been prepared to summarise material in the social profile:
