About Active Mums
Active Mums Noosa is an initiative of Noosa Council. The program’s primary aim is to get more mums involved in regular physical activity and increase the number of opportunities in the local community to do this. Read more about this initiative.
As a result of the success of this program council has committed to providing mum-specific classes at the Noosa Leisure Centre and Noosa Aquatic Centre. All classes are child friendly and crèche is available for most classes.
The introduction of an Active Mums Membership Program in September 2016 will provide an affordable option for recent mums to get moving and stay moving.
Active Mums Membership Program
An Active Mums Membership provides access to all Active Mums classes for $9.95 per week (direct debited fortnightly). To be eligible for this 12 month membership, mums must have a child aged 0-5 years.
For more details on Active Mums classes and memberships [264KB] contact the Noosa Leisure Centre on 5329 6550.
FREE Fitmums Post-natal Program
A free Fitmums Post-natal Program will also be offered free to all mums (no need to be a member) which will focus on getting your body in a state of readiness for post-natal exercise. This class will run twice a week (for 10 weeks) to ensure maximum results and benefits for participants. This program is strongly recommended for all recent mums or any mum who hasn’t exercised for a while. There is no cost to attend this program, but bookings are essential.
This program starts with foundation exercises to re-establish core function before progressing your weights and cardio programs. This ensures that the pelvic floor, abdominals and glut’ muscles are strong enough to stabilise your spine and joints before advancing your program, therefore reducing the chance of injury. It includes both cardio and resistance training in each session and is progressive based on your strength.

Childcare options explained
Crèche: An on-site crèche is offered for morning activities at the Noosa Leisure Centre and Noosa Aquatic Centre, but places must be reserved when registering for activities.
Minimum age for crèche is 8 weeks old, however babies are welcome to all classes except aqua aerobics.
Play pen: For group fitness sessions, a large playpen will be set up in the same room as the class and workouts will be around the play pen. Mums are encouraged to bring toys for their children. Mums are also welcome to bring prams or strollers for sleepy children.
Peer child minding: This option will be used for stand up paddle (SUP) boarding only. A playpen will be set up in a shaded area in the immediate area of the SUP activity. Mums will be 'buddied up" to mind each other’s children, taking it in turns to paddle. While mums will not be venturing too far from children's sight, it is recommended that they register with a friend so that they are sharing the child minding with someone familiar.
